Crazy Noodles

The simplest things can be so much fun.  These curly, colorful noodles are a big hit with my littles.

They love to measure and pour them.

Then, out comes the home-made play dough they got at the library. The noodles are fun to stick in the dough. The kids also like rolling the noodles across the dough to leave cool tracks.

By the way, that play dough is great! It doesn’t crumble or dry out easily. It’s so much easier to clean up than the store bought stuff! Just wish I could remember the “safe” place where I hid the recipe.

The kids share, sort, measure, build, pour, and learn.

Me? I get the kitchen cleaned up or supper fixed without worrying what the kids are getting into.

I love big bowls of crazy noodles!

  1. This is the basic recipe I use for the girls Fatima :) We switched out the juice crystals at christmas and added peppermint extract & sparkles for candy cane play dough and did a seperate batch of gingerbread by just adding all spice, cinnamon and nutmeg

    Perfect Playdough
Unlike commercial brands that can dry out, this playdough is pliable, fragrant and long lasting.
Mix 2 cups flour, 4 tsp. cream of tartar, 1 cup salt and 2 tbsp. oil and whisk together in a large bowl.
Add 2cups water mixed with a small package of drink crystals.
Microwave the mixture on high for 3 to 5 minutes, stirring every minute.
Keep cooking until it's so thick you can't stir it. When it's cool, knead until smooth.

  2. I'm going to have to try this with my son once he learns not to put everything in his mouth!

  4. Awesome! We had a package of that in our fall sensory bin - the colors were perfect!

We make homemade play clay too. The only recipe I havent had success with thus far is chocolate play clay. I've tried 3 recipes, both cooked & uncooked, and they all came out too sticky. Anyone have a chocolate one that works?
