Yummy Granola Bars

These are quick, simple and delicious granola bars you can make with ingredients you probably have in your kitchen.  Hope you'll try them!

1/2 cup vegetable oil
1/2 cup honey
4 cups oatmeal
misc. odds and ends of yummy stuff

First, measure the oil.

Then, measure the honey into the same glass measuring cup so that the total liquid is 1 cup.

Microwave that yummy honey and oil for one minute.  This will make it nice and warm and runny.

Measure out four cups of quick cooking oatmeal in a large mixing bowl.

Now for the fun part!  Rummage through your cabinets for yummy stuff to add to the granola bars.  I found a handful of chocolate chips, some raisins and a bunch of dehydrated marshmallows that were left over from making hot chocolate last winter.

Add the oil and honey mixture slowly so that the temperature of the mixture doesn't get too high.  Otherwise, you'll have melted chocolate chips.  Unless you want melted chocolate chips....

Roll it all out on a baking sheet, about 1/2 inch thick.  Bake at 325 degrees for about 20 minutes or until it becomes slightly brown.

Enjoy the "music" while the granola bars bake.  Anyone have a Tylenol?  At least he was happy.  Very, very happy!

Let the granola bars sit for at least 10 minutes to cool before slicing.  I love my pizza cutter for this job.

Store your granola bars in an airtight container and enjoy at snack time, on the go, or with some good friends.
